Tarot and Pets

Welcome to Season 10 of Every Day Tarot!

This season, I’m exploring the rich, magical intersections between tarot and witchcraft.

What we explore in this episode:

  • Why pets are drawn to your tarot energy and how they sense your emotions

  • How to ask for your pet’s consent before intuitive work

  • A five-card spread to deepen your connection and understand your pet’s needs

  • Simple ways to honor and nurture your sacred bond every day

How to do a 5-card Pet Connection spread:

1. Shuffle and Ground Yourself

This spread is designed to help you understand and deepen your bond with your animal companion. Before you begin, take a quiet moment to ground yourself. You might place a hand on your pet (if they’re open to it), light a candle, or simply breathe deeply and set your intention.

2. Pull 5 Cards

  • Card 1: A card to represent your connection

  • Card 2: Something special you share together

  • Card 3: How you can better understand each other

  • Card 4: An activity to nurture your bond

  • Card 5: Why were you brought together

3. Reflect and Record

You can journal your reflections, share them aloud with your pet, or simply hold them close in your heart.

In today’s reading, I pulled a 5-card tarot spread for pets with Anima Mundi Tarot Deck by Megan Wyreweden

1. A card to represent our connection
I pulled the Seven of Pentacles. To me, this speaks to the patience and long-term investment woven into my relationship with Watson. It also hints at my dreams for our future together, maybe even welcoming new kitten companions one day.

2. Something special we share together
The Six of Pentacles came up here. This feels so true to our nightly rituals — the generosity, the shared comfort, and those moments when he comes running to snuggle on the bed while I journal. It’s about the simple ways we give and receive love each day.

3. How can we better understand each other
I drew the Six of Swords. This card invites me to honor the ongoing transition we’re both experiencing since his sister passed. It reminds me to hold space for his healing process and to be patient with the shifts in our home and hearts.

4. An activity to nurture our bond
I pulled The Hierophant. This suggests leaning into the comfort of our established routines and continuing to explore new ways to communicate, like using his talking buttons. It feels like an encouragement to keep things steady and safe while also remaining open to growth.

5. Why were we brought together
For this, I drew The Lovers. This feels so affirming. It speaks to our deep soul connection and the sense of being chosen family for each other. We’re here to support, comfort, and understand one another on a profound level.

Today's Tarot Pull:

From Ophidia Rosa Tarot deck by Leila & Olive, I pulled The World (Upright). This card symbolizes wholeness, completion, and the unity that I feel with Watson — a beautiful reminder of how much we mean to each other and how we help each other feel truly at home.

Reflective prompts on this card:

  • In what ways do I feel a sense of wholeness and completion in my relationship with my pet?

  • Where do I notice that we help each other feel “at home” in the world?

  • How have we grown and transformed together over time?
