How do I read tarot intuitively?

Frequently Asked Questions: Tarot, Witchcraft, & Divination

Welcome to Season 14 of Every Day Tarot! This season, I’m answering your most frequently asked questions about tarot, witchcraft, and divination.

Today’s question: How do I read tarot intuitively?

Reading intuitively means listening to your inner voice, noticing what stands out in the imagery, and allowing the message to unfold in real time. In this episode, we look at how to move past the pressure to be “right,” and why intuitive practice turns tarot into a living conversation.

What we explore in this episode:

  • Why intuition sits at the heart of tarot and witchcraft

  • How tarot acts as a mirror for inner wisdom

  • Moving through the fear of being wrong

  • Everyday practices that strengthen intuition

What Does Intuitive Reading Mean?

It is natural to feel hesitant to practice tarot without a guidebook in hand. Many of us grew up in systems that rewarded the “right answer” and discouraged uncertainty. That can make reading tarot feel intimidating. What if you misinterpret a card? What if someone disagrees?

Intuitive tarot invites a different approach. It encourages us to notice what draws our attention—a symbol on the card, a memory that surfaces, an emotion that stirs. These impressions matter, and when you speak your impressions aloud, you are giving yourself permission to trust and listen to your intuition speaking through your deck.

Trust Your Inner Voice

The truth is, tarot isn’t about proving yourself right. It’s about opening a space for reflection and dialogue—between you, the cards, and whatever wisdom wants to emerge in the moment. Instead of asking, “Did I get this card right?” you begin to ask, “What does this card awaken in me right now?”

Over time, this practice shifts from seeking fixed answers to cultivating an ongoing relationship with your inner knowing. With each reading, you learn to trust yourself a little more. These moments are where intuition lives, and where tarot’s deepest magic takes root.

💭 Today's Tarot Pull:

From Norse Goddess Rune Oracle by Rebecca Joy Stark and illustrated by Sharon McLeod, I pulled the Berkana Birch Goddess - Growth, Birth, Renewal

This card reminds us that intuition takes root slowly but steadily. Pay attention to what’s budding in your practice, and allow it the space to grow.

Reflective prompts on this card:

  • Where am I being invited into renewal or growth?

  • How can I nurture my intuition the way I would nurture new life?

  • What practices help me feel rooted and ready to flourish?
