Tarot for Transformation
Welcome to Season 10 of Every Day Tarot!
This season, I’m exploring the rich, magical intersections between tarot and witchcraft.
What we explore in this episode:
My personal journey with tarot and how it transformed my practice over time
Reflections on Tarot for Change by Jessica Dore and how tarot can be more than just an intellectual pursuit — it’s an embodied, lived practice
A preview of my upcoming 12-week live course based on Tarot for Transformation by Dreya Blume (formerly Andy Matzner)
Why the major arcana provides a powerful roadmap for self-discovery and integration
The importance of collective energy and community support when working with tarot for transformation
In this episode, I want to take you on a special journey, using tarot as a tool for transformation. We’ll explore what it means to work with tarot beyond simple divination, how it can support deep self-discovery, and why I’m so excited to invite you into a new offering: a live, collective tarot for transformation journey starting this summer.
Tarot as a Tool for Deep Change
Tarot has always been more than a deck of cards for me. It’s a mirror, a trusted guide, and an invitation to slow down and listen to the voice within.
When I first started reading tarot, I was like many people — flipping through guidebooks, cross-referencing keywords, trying to "get it right." Over time, I realized that tarot isn’t about right or wrong; it’s about relationships. It’s a practice of showing up, again and again, to ask: What do I need to know? Where am I being led?
This shift toward an intuitive, embodied tarot practice has transformed not just my readings but how I move through life. It’s taught me to trust my inner knowing, to see challenges as invitations to grow, and to approach life’s twists and turns with more compassion and curiosity.
Inspiration from Jessica Dore and Dreya Bloom
One of the tarot books that deeply shaped my journey is Tarot for Change by Jessica Dore. Jessica invites us to see tarot as more than a set of images — it becomes a psychological tool, a way to work with patterns, feelings, and stories we carry.
Similarly, Tarot for Transformation by Dreya Blume (formerly Andy Matzner) uses the major arcana to guide us through deep self-discovery. In this book, Dreya outlines three essential steps for living a more authentic, fulfilling life:
1️⃣ Discover who you really are beneath all the social and familial conditioning.
2️⃣ Clarify what you truly want from life.
3️⃣ Learn and integrate essential life skills (like setting boundaries, processing emotions, and cultivating self-compassion).
The major arcana offers archetypal energies that help us work through these stages. By engaging with these cards, we can explore different parts of ourselves and begin to shape a life that feels true and alive.
Three Reflective Questions to Get You Started
In today’s episode, I pulled cards to explore these questions, and I invite you to reflect on them too:
What excites you about what lies ahead?
What concerns might come up as you start this journey?
How does it feel to step into uncharted territory?
Think of these as journal prompts or card spreads to help you connect with your intentions before you leap.
Here’s what came up in today’s reading using the The Desert Illuminations Tarot by Lindsay D. Williams:
1. What excites you about what lies ahead?
Five of Daggers (Swords), reversed → This card invites us to move on from conflict, release the old battles, and welcome spiritual transformation. There is excitement in embracing grace and growth instead of staying stuck in the past.
2. What concerns might come up as you start this journey?
Five of Jugs (Cups), reversed → This suggests concerns about missed opportunities or disappointment. It’s a reminder to stay present, practice forgiveness and patience, and not let past setbacks hold us back from new experiences.
3. How does it feel to be in uncharted territory?
Eight of Jugs (Cups), upright → This card highlights the courage it takes to walk away from what no longer serves us. Being in uncharted territory can feel like a mix of longing, vulnerability, and hope, and facing this discomfort can ultimately make us stronger and more resilient.

Today's Tarot Pull:
From Therapists Who Tarot Deck, Prompts by Dreya Blume and Images by Rebecca Bloom, I pulled the Knight of Wands (upright). This card asks: What don’t you see? Is there something you need to quit? What is weighing you down? It invites us to examine what might be hidden beneath the surface as we embark on our transformation journey, and to clear what might slow us down so we can move forward with passion and focus.
Reflective prompts on this card:
Where in your life might you be rushing forward without fully seeing the whole picture?
Are you holding on to something out of fear, obligation, or comfort rather than genuine desire?
How might setting boundaries or asking for help lighten your load?
A 12-Week Tarot for Transformation Journey
