Tarot and Deities
Welcome to Season 10 of Every Day Tarot!
This season, I’m exploring the rich, magical intersections between tarot and witchcraft.
What we explore in this episode:
How to think about deities as archetypes or energy rather than rigid figures
Insights from Bewitching the Elements on the divine feminine spirit
A step-by-step guide to a nine-card elemental spread
An invitation to explore your own spiritual connection through tarot
In this episode, I’m sharing my reflections on tarot and deities: how we might invite the divine into our tarot practice and connect with different aspects of spirit through the elements.
When we choose to work with a specific goddess, we’re seeing spirit distilled into a certain archetype. Venus might represent love, Kali transformation, and Hekate for thresholds and magic. These archetypes can be powerful guides during different phases of our lives.
Tarot becomes a bridge to these divine energies. It offers a mirror, reflecting where we’re being called to grow, shift, and soften. The cards can guide us deeper into our connection with spirit, whether we frame that as the goddess, the universe, or simply our higher self.
Nine-Card Elemental Tarot Spread:
This spread connects you to the elements — Spirit, Earth, Air, Fire, and Water — and helps you explore where you’re being supported, where you can grow, and what wisdom to carry forward.
How to prepare:
Find a quiet, comfortable space.
Center yourself with a few deep breaths.
Shuffle your deck while thinking about connecting to the elements and your inner guidance.
Card Positions & Questions:
1. Spirit (Top of the star)
Where am I being asked to witness the abundance and miracles in my life right now?
2. Water (Right side of the star)
What are my emotions trying to tell me?
3. Fire (Bottom right of the star)
What is keeping me fueled and passionate?
4. Earth (Bottom left of the star)
Where am I supported and safe?
5. Air (Left side of the star)
Where am I able to be my fullest self and be present?
6. Center of the star
Where am I living in alignment?
7. Below center, left
Where am I being called to live more in alignment?
8. Below center, middle
What element can I call in to find more balance?
9. Below center, right
What wisdom should I carry with me moving forward?
Here’s what came up in today’s reading using the Anima Mundi Tarot Deck by Megan Wyreweden:
Card 1: Spirit — Where am I being asked to witness abundance and miracles right now?
I pulled the Two of Pentacles reversed. This reminded me to recognize the multiple paths to abundance and not get stuck trying to balance or control it all.
Card 2: Water — What are my emotions trying to tell me?
Temperance appeared upright, inviting me to find balance and not stretch myself too thin. A gentle call to go with the flow.
Card 3: Fire — What is keeping me fueled and passionate?
The Ten of Wands reversed suggested that my fire is being fueled by overcommitment and the weight of too many responsibilities, and that I need to avoid burning out.
Card 4: Earth — Where am I supported and safe?
The Hierophant told me to lean into structures that already work for me rather than constantly reinventing the wheel.
Card 5: Air — Where am I able to be my fullest self and be present?
The Five of Swords reversed encouraged me to embrace open, honest communication, even when it means navigating conflict.
Card 6: Where am I living in alignment?
The Four of Wands reversed showed me where I’m struggling with stability and connection, nudging me to seek community and shared joy.
Card 7: Where am I being called to live more in alignment?
The Strength card, reversed, pointed to self-doubt and the need for inner courage and compassion.
Card 8: What element can I call in to find more balance?
The Six of Cups reversed called me to release nostalgia and unrealistic expectations, and to focus on presence and emotional growth.
Card 9: What wisdom should I carry with me moving forward?
The Ace of Cups reversed reminded me to open my heart, express my emotions, and embrace new beginnings with vulnerability.

Today's Tarot Pull:
From The Sasuraibito Tarot deck by Stasia Burrington, I pulled The Page of Wands (upright). This fiery card spoke of youthful enthusiasm, creative spark, and the importance of fueling our inner fire. It’s a reminder to stay curious and seek what inspires us.
Reflective prompts on this card:
What sparks my curiosity or lights me up right now?
What messages or ideas have been coming to me repeatedly?
Where can I allow myself to be curious instead of perfect?
