Queen of Cups

Welcome to season 9 of this podcast, where I am talking all about the Suit of Cups!

I’m going through each card in the suit, one per episode.

What we explore in this episode:

  • The Queen of Cups as a card of emotional depth, compassion, and intuitive wisdom

  • Symbolism across decks: calm waters, container held with care, gentle, steady presence

  • How this card teaches us to hold space for ourselves and others without drowning in emotional overwhelm

  • The importance of honoring feelings as sacred, creative, and wise sources of guidance

Queen of Cups

Pictures from the decks I talked about today :

In this episode, we meet one of the most nurturing, deeply attuned figures in the tarot, the Queen of Cups. This card reminds us that strength doesn’t always roar. Sometimes, it hums gently beneath the surface. She sits near the edge of the ocean, but is not pulled in against her will.

The queen's throne is grounded, her cup is full, and she knows when to offer compassion and when to protect her peace. This card asks us to honor our emotional experiences without letting them rule us, and to recognize that deep feeling is not weakness.

Today's Tarot Pull:

From The Citadel: A Fantasy Oracle by Fen Inkwright, I pulled The Scholar (upright). This card represents investigation, study, and thoughtful problem-solving. The Scholar reminds us to approach things with care and curiosity. When emotions feel tangled or life feels unclear, it may be time to step back, reassess, and engage with what’s unfolding from a more reflective place. Wisdom comes not just from knowing, but from listening, researching, and approaching challenges with humility and care.

Reflective prompts on this card:

  • What might emotional intelligence look like when paired with inquiry and structure?

  • Where in your life are you being asked to lead with calm, and what must be said outloud?

  • Where might I be over-caretaking or losing myself in others’ needs?
