Knight of Cups

Welcome to season 9 of this podcast, where I am talking all about the Suit of Cups!

I’m going through each card in the suit, one per episode.

What we explore in this episode:

  • The Knight of Cups as a romantic messenger, an emotional risk-taker, and an embodiment of heart-led action

  • How this card invites us to explore our fantasies, inner landscapes, and dreams

  • Symbolism across decks: charm, love in motion, knight on horseback, flirtatious energy

  • What it means to pursue desire and express love in active, embodied ways

In this episode, the Knight of Cups calls us toward vulnerability and intentional pursuit of what moves the heart. Often seen as the most romantic of the court cards, this Knight doesn’t just dream, he acts on his dreams. He makes offers, initiates connection, and takes emotional risks.

Whether he’s chasing art, love, or divine inspiration, he is willing to move with grace even when the outcome is uncertain. This card is a reminder that being emotionally brave isn’t about never feeling fear—it’s about showing up anyway, cup in hand.

The Knight asks: what would it look like to follow your heart, even if you don’t know where it will take you?

Today's Tarot Pull:

From The Citadel: A Fantasy Oracle by Fen Inkwright, I pulled The Witch (upright). This card is all about experimentation and rebellion. It encourages us to break away from outdated systems, beliefs, or expectations—especially the ones that stifle our emotional truth. The Witch reminds us that magic lives in invention, in questioning the old ways, and in choosing to live authentically. Emotional vulnerability can be its own kind of rebellion. Your heart doesn’t need permission. It just needs practice.

Reflective prompts on this card:

  • Where are you being asked to lead with your heart instead of your logic?

  • What rituals or traditions no longer feel aligned, and how might you invent your own?

  • How can you allow your emotions to inspire creativity rather than control your direction?
