Tarot and Opal
Welcome back to Every Day Tarot, your daily dive into the wisdom of the cards. Season 15 is all about tarot and crystals, and today we cast our gaze onto Opal—a semi-precious stone long associated with mystery, beauty, and transformation.
Known as the Queen of Gems, Opal has been treasured for centuries. Cultures from ancient Greece to India associated their iridescence with lightning, rainbows, and divine beauty. Legends describe opal as a stone of protection, invisibility, and even astral travel.
In this episode, we explore opal’s elemental and astrological ties, its role in goddess traditions, and how its shifting colors mirror our own cycles of transformation.
What we explore in this episode:
The myths and magical qualities of opal
Astrological associations with Moon, Neptune, Venus, Mercury, Cancer, Libra, and Scorpio
Opal: Myth, Magic & Meaning
Opal has long been surrounded by myth and magic—said to be formed from lightning in Greek and Roman lore, linked to rainbows and divine fire in Arabic tradition, and born from a rainbow goddess in Indian legend. Its shifting colors mark it as a bridge between worlds, tied to invisibility, hidden wisdom, and dream journeys.
In magical practice, Opal is often used to:
Enhance psychic abilities and intuitive vision
Support dreamwork, astral travel, and spiritual journeys
Connect with goddess energy, especially the Triple Goddess archetype
Its elemental signatures are Water and Spirit, while its astrological ties include the Moon, Neptune, Venus, and Mercury. Opal is especially connected to the zodiac signs of Cancer, Libra, and Scorpio.
Opal & the Tarot
When viewed through the lens of tarot, opal’s shimmering and transformative nature connects with The Moon and The High Priestess, cards of intuition, dreams, and hidden wisdom. It also resonates with the Pages, bringing curiosity and fresh beginnings, and the Aces, embodying pure energy and potential.
Like the stone’s dazzling display of color, these cards encourage us to explore the unseen, the liminal, and the possibilities waiting to emerge.

💭 Today's Tarot Pull:
From Norse Goddess Rune Oracle by Rebecca Joy Stark and illustrated by Sharon McLeod, I pulled the Isa Skadi Norse Goddess - Blockage, Stasis, Clarity
Just as seeds rest beneath frozen soil, this season of stillness prepares us for future growth. While it may feel like stagnation, Isa encourages us to pause, reflect, and gather clarity.
Reflective prompts on this card:
Where in your life do you feel frozen or blocked right now?
How can you use this pause to gain clarity rather than resist it?
What seeds are you tending that will be ready to sprout when the ice melts?
