Tarot and Black Tourmaline
Tarot and Crystals
Welcome back to Every Day Tarot, your daily dive into the wisdom of the cards. Season 15 is all about tarot and crystals, and today we’re diving into the protective, grounding energy of Black Tourmaline.
Black Tourmaline is one of the most trusted allies for protection and energetic clearing. For centuries, it has been revered by magicians, shamans, and healers alike—used as a psychic shield, a grounding anchor, and a symbol of resilience.
In this episode, we explore the lore of this prized stone of protection, its magical correspondences, and its resonance with tarot archetypes of transformation, protection, and resilience.
What we explore in this episode:
The myths and magical qualities of Black Tourmaline
Astrological associations with Saturn, Earth, Capricorn, and Libra
Black Tourmaline: Myth, Magic & Meaning
Black Tourmaline belongs to a complex family of aluminum borosilicates mixed with iron, magnesium, and other trace metals, which give rise to a wide range of colors. Ancient magicians carried it to ward off earth spirits and protect themselves during ritual.
Connected to the root chakra, Black Tourmaline brings us back to strength. It clears fear, restores balance, and helps us feel secure even in difficult environments.
In magical practice, Black Tourmaline is often used to:
Create psychic protection and dispel heavy or stagnant energy
Ground the body and spirit through the root chakra
Support calm, focus, and confidence in difficult environments
Astrologically, Black Tourmaline is tied to Saturn and the element of Earth, embodying structure, discipline, and stability. It carries the resilience of Capricorn and the balancing influence of Libra, offering both grounded strength and harmony in relationships.
Black Tourmaline & the Tarot
With its grounding energy, Black Tourmaline resonates with tarot archetypes of transformation, protection, and resilience. It reflects the Death card, showing us that endings open the path to growth. It connects with the Knights, guardians of courage and purposeful action. And it mirrors The Fool, reminding us that stepping into the unknown is safest when we carry our own clarity, resilience, and protection.

💭 Today's Tarot Pull:
From Norse Goddess Rune Oracle by Rebecca Joy Stark and illustrated by Sharon McLeod, I pulled the Saga Norse Goddess - Emotion, Intuition, Flow
Saga, the goddess who lives beneath the waterfall, offers wisdom through her gift of seeing. She teaches us to trust our intuition, honor the ebb and flow of emotions, and allow clarity to come through deep listening.
Reflective prompts on this card:
Where do you need energetic protection right now?
How can grounding help you listen more clearly to your intuition?
What can you release so your emotions can flow more freely?
