Tarot and Mint

Welcome to Season 11 of Every Day Tarot! This season, we’re exploring the fascinating connections between Tarot and plant allies.

In today’s episode, I’m inviting you to meet Mint—a refreshing, vibrant plant ally associated with abundance, clarity, and energetic protection. We’ll explore how mint can help us set healthy boundaries, embrace gratitude, and stay open to life’s flow while maintaining balance.

What we explore in this episode:

  • What mint is and its rich herbal and energetic qualities

  • Which tarot cards and astrological energies mint resonates with

  • Practical ways to work with mint in ritual, self-care, and creative expression

💐 Meet the Plant Ally: Mint

Mint (Mentha spp.) is an aromatic perennial with over 600 varieties, including familiar favorites like spearmint and peppermint. It grows easily in gardens, spreads aggressively by underground rhizomes, and thrives near water. With its cooling, invigorating qualities, mint has a long history of culinary and medicinal use.

Medicinally, mint is a digestive ally. It relieves nausea, soothes stomach discomfort, and eases headaches or congestion when used as an infusion or steam inhalation.

Energetically, mint symbolizes abundance, clarity, and vitality. Its rapid growth reminds us of life’s lush generosity, but also the importance of structure and boundaries to avoid burnout or overwhelm.

🔮 Mint & Tarot

Mint aligns with tarot archetypes of abundance, emotional fulfillment, and the ever-shifting cycles of fortune:

  • Ten of Spirals (Ten of Pentacles) — representing wealth, energetic balance, and the ability to discern what fuels versus what drains us. Mint reminds us that abundance doesn’t mean taking on everything; it means knowing what truly nourishes and protecting that.

  • Ten of Cups — symbolizing emotional richness, joy in relationships, and deep gratitude. Mint encourages us to savor the sweetness in our lives and share that abundance generously—with loved ones, with community, and with ourselves.

  • Wheel of Fortune — inviting us to move with the rhythms of change, trusting in growth and recalibration. Just as mint thrives with structure, we’re called to ground ourselves in practices that help us expand without losing balance.

These archetypes remind us that true abundance thrives with mindful limits. Growth without containment can lead to chaos, just like mint, whose vitality is both a blessing and a lesson in setting boundaries.

🌿 Plant Magic & Energetics

Edible & Herbal Uses:

  • Fresh leaves for teas, cocktails, and cooling summer drinks (like mojitos or Moroccan mint tea).

  • Infused oil for headaches, muscle pain, or cooling skin remedies.

  • Steam inhalations for congestion and clarity.

Ritual Use:

  • Include mint in abundance or prosperity spells.

  • Add to cleansing baths for refreshment and renewal.

  • Use dried mint in charm bags for clarity and protection.

Gardening & Offerings:

  • Grow mint in containers to honor its abundant energy while setting healthy limits.
Share sprigs or rooted cuttings as a blessing of prosperity.

  • Offer fresh mint on your altar for clarity and openness in spiritual work.

Energetic Properties:

  • Supports emotional clarity and gratitude.

  • Invites mental clarity and refreshes stagnant energy.

  • Invigorating yet cooling, wakes us up without burning us out.

💭 Today's Tarot Pull:

From The Desert Illuminations Tarot by Lindsay D. Williams, I pulled The Hierophant (reversed).

This card speaks to seeking guidance, mentorship, and collective wisdom—but reversed, it invites us to question rigid structures and cultivate personal truth. Mint’s teaching mirrors this: growth thrives with some containment, but not confinement. We need supportive frameworks without losing our vitality and uniqueness.

Reflective prompts on this card:

  • Where am I resisting guidance or mentorship that could help me grow?

  • How can I set clear boundaries without shutting out connection?

  • Where do I need structure and where do I need more freedom?

A 12-Week Tarot for Transformation Journey

Starting in late August, I’m inviting you to join me for a 12-week live course based on Tarot for Transformation!

We’ll spend three months together, working through the major arcana as archetypal guides. Each week, we’ll:

  • Explore journaling prompts and exercises from Dreya Blume’s book.

  • Share experiences and support each other in a safe, witchy, and affirming space.

  • Participate in live one-hour calls (with replays available if you can’t join live).

This is not just about learning tarot — it’s about using tarot as a vessel for real, meaningful change in your life.

If you've ever longed for a supportive community to explore big personal shifts, or if you’re ready to commit to discovering your most authentic self, this journey is for you.
