Seven of Wands
Welcome to season 6 of this podcast where I am talking all about the Suit of Wands.
I’ll be going through each card in the suit, one per episode.
What we explore in this episode:
The symbolism of defense, attack, and righteous anger
Boundaries, energetic protection, and the importance of discernment
Mars in Leo, leadership, and the courage to stay aligned with your values
How to engage with anger constructively rather than performatively
Using tarot for reflection on sovereignty, fear, and community care
Seven of Wands
Pictures from the decks I talked about today referenced from left to right:
In this episode, we will learn about the powerful themes behind the Seven of Wands: defiance, protection, and standing your ground. This card shows up when it’s time to hold firm after success, to protect your boundaries, your values, and your energy from those who might challenge or undermine them.
I shared interpretations from several decks, talked about how this card relates to anger and boundaries, and reflected on how I protect my own energy both spiritually and practically. I also shared a visualization I use for energetic shielding, along with some thoughts on how protest and activism intersect with our internal fire.
This episode is for anyone who’s navigating conflict, asserting their identity, or needing a reminder that it’s okay to defend what matters to you.
If you haven't listened to my other seasons yet, go check them out!
The first season, I introduced tarot through talking about oracle vs tarot cards, myths of tarot, how to find a deck, reading for yourself vs others, and much more.
In seasons 2 and 3, I went through the major arcana and the four suits, one per episode.
In season 4, I talked all about Tarot in Pop Culture and examined representations of Tarot in videogames, TV shows, movies, and more.
In season 5, I went through 13 Common Tarot Spreads, what they are, how many cards, and an example of what it looks like to work through one.
Today's Tarot Pull:
The Nine of Wands from Therapists Who Tarot Deck, Prompts by Dreya Blume and Images by Rebecca Bloom. I pulled a card that challenges us to think about what we’re willing to fight for, and how we can stay grounded in ourselves when we feel under pressure.
Reflection questions included:
What is exciting your life right now?
What is getting in the way of your progress?
What do you still need to learn?
