Two of Cups

Welcome to season 9 of this podcast, where I am talking all about the Suit of Cups!

I’m going through each card in the suit, one per episode.

What we explore in this episode:

  • The Two of Cups as a card of reciprocity, mutual attraction, and sacred connection

  • Symbolism across decks: mirrored figures, twins, themes of devotion, and romance

  • The difference between genuine intimacy and projection or fantasy

  • How this card helps us explore the tension between connection and codependence

In this episode, we explore the tender, relational world of the Two of Cups. Often read as a card of romance, this card is equally about how we project, receive, and reflect love.

The Two of Cups invites us to examine our emotional patterns. It doesn't just ask, 'Who do you love?' It also asks: 'Are you engaging with others from a place of reciprocity, or are you reenacting old dynamics in search of healing? Do you recognize the parts of yourself you're giving away?'

Whether between lovers, close friends, or parts of yourself, this card speaks to the sacred exchange of emotion, trust, and presence.

Today's Tarot Pull:

From The Citadel: A Fantasy Oracle by Fen Inkwright, I pulled The Shepherd (reversed). Upright, this card is a toast to shared joy, family, belonging, and celebration. Reversed, it invites you to reclaim some of that love and happiness for yourself. You may have been giving so much to others that you’ve neglected your own needs. This card offers a gentle redirection: instead of overextending, come back to center and tend to your own heart.

Reflective prompts on this card:

  • Where am I overinvesting in others at the expense of my own well-being?

  • What kind of celebration or care have I been craving for myself lately?

  • How can I create moments of joy that don’t depend on others to be meaningful?
